thanks for sponsoring john!
Hi! I'm John Girvin, a software engineer from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
In 2009 I did three sponsored long distance cycling events of 50K, 100Km and 150Km to help RNIB NI.
The generous donations made by the people and organisations listed below raised £650 for this worthy cause.
Thanks to all for their contributions, and see you in 2010!
About John Girvin
My name's John Girvin and I'm born and bred in Northern Ireland.
I've always enjoyed cycling, but in 2009 I've decided to challenge myself to take it one step further and enter some local, long distance cycling events to raise money for charity. I'm entering the 30 mile Craigavon Cycle Trail on 9th May, the 60 mile Bangor Coastal Challenge on 21st June and finally, the big one, the 90 mile Lap The Lough event on 30th August. I've never cycled that far before so they all will be tough challenges!!
RNIB are the UK's leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight loss. By sponsoring me you'll directly help RNIB NI's Eye Care Liason Officer service, which supports those who have been recently diagnosed with serious sight loss through very difficult times. I've experienced the work these officers do first hand and can testify to its importance and value. 2009 is me giving something back.

You can donate easily using any major credit or debit card, or with a PayPal account if you have one. Payments are securely processed by PayPal and your personal details will be kept safe and private.
For your donation you will receive a listing on the front page with a link back to your website, and a warm fuzzy feeling inside because you know you've done a good thing. Donation amounts are never displayed (and you can even opt to donate anonymously), but sponsors are listed in order of amount donated and time of donation so those who make the largest, earliest donations will appear higher up the list.
As well as donating your hard earned cash, you can help by telling your family, friends and colleagues about this site and linking to it from blogs, social networks, forums and so on. Use the handy links in the "Spread the word!" box on the right to help.
For updates on how I'm progressing you can visit my cycling blog, Rain Miles Count Double. You can also view my professional website, personal blog or look me up on Google, Facebook and Twitter.
Thanks again for each and every one of your generous contributions!
