About John Girvin

My name's John Girvin and I'm born and bred in Northern Ireland.

I've taken up the challenge of the 2010 Lap The Lough 150Km cyclosportive to raise money for RNIB NI. This will be the second time I've attempted the Lap, so I know what lies in store, and it's tough.

RNIB are the UK's leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight loss. By sponsoring me, you'll help RNIB NI to support those who have been recently diagnosed with serious sight loss through very difficult times. I've experienced the work the charity officers do first hand and can testify to its importance and value.

In 2009, thanks to generous contributions through this website, I raised £650 for the charity. I'd like to do the same again!

You can donate easily using any major credit or debit card, or with a PayPal account if you have one. Payments are securely processed by PayPal and your personal details will be kept safe, secure and private on the industrial strength PayPal servers.

For your donation you will receive a listing on the front page with a link back to your website (if you have one), and a warm fuzzy feeling inside because you know you've done a good thing. Donation amounts are never displayed (and you can even opt to donate anonymously), but sponsors are listed in order of amount donated and time of donation so those who make the largest, earliest donations will appear higher up the list.

As well as donating your hard earned cash, you can help by telling your family, friends and colleagues about this site and linking to it from blogs, social networks, forums and so on. Use the handy links in the "Spread the word!" box on the right to help.

For updates on how I'm progressing, visit my cycling blog, Rain Miles Count Double or follow @johngirvin or @rainmiles on Twitter.

Thanks again for each and every one of your generous contributions!
