Hi! I'm John Girvin, a software engineer from Belfast, Northern Ireland.

In 2009 I did three sponsored long distance cycling events of 50K, 100Km and 150Km to help RNIB NI.

The generous donations made by the people and organisations listed below raised £650 for this worthy cause.

Thanks to all for their contributions, and see you in 2010!

RNIB - supporting blind and partially sighted people

Charity

I'm raising money to support the Eye Care Liaison Officer service operated by RNIB NI. RNIB are the UK's leading charity offering information, support and advice to over two million people with sight loss.

Eye Care Liaison Officers (ECLOs) provide an immediate point of contact for someone who is newly diagnosed with serious sight loss. They provide support for the person, their family and associated professionals at a very difficult time. They help people to adapt to their new circumstances, retain confidence and regain their independence.

I've experienced the work these officers do first hand and can testify to its importance and value.

The ECLO service started in Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital in 2002. However RNIB NI has recently expanded the ECLO service in order to reach more people, employing 4 new ECLOs to cover the whole region.

Click here to read a letter from the Northern Ireland regional manager of RNIB ECLO asking for your support.

For further information on RNIB NI's ECLO service or to find out who the ECLO in your area is please call 028 9032 9373 or email ECLO
